Last week, the General Manager and I attended a productive meeting with the Rural Fire Service. We hope for works to commence on the new Rural Fire Service development in Harden in July. The General Manager and I also travelled to Sydney last week for a meeting with Schools Infrastructure NSW regarding the joint use library facility in Young. I am pleased to report that we are getting closer to an agreement regarding ongoing operational costs and very close to having the final schematic design to present to Council. Once the schematic design and operational costs are confirmed, Council can then consider the project deed commitment. We are confident that we will be able to progress toward delivering a facility that will benefit the Hilltops community for generations to come.
Over the past two weeks I have had the honour of accepting invitations to attend Debutante Balls at both Hennessy and Young High School. I congratulate all debutantes; it was a pleasure to stand alongside your parents and families as they watched you progress into the next stage of your lives.
Just a reminder that Southern Tablelands Arts in conjunction with Hilltops Council will be hosting a Grant Workshop on the evening of Wednesday 22 May at the Hilltops Council Chambers Harden. Register your interest by calling 4823 4407. There is also a free Pest and Weed Management Information Session happening in Young on Tuesday 21 May from 9am-12pm at the Young Services Club. More information about both these events can be found on Council’s website.
Finally, I would like to assure the community that Hilltops Council continue to work closely with Goldenfields Water toward a solution to water discolouration. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working to have the issue rectified as soon as possible.
Mayor Brian Ingram
