Gardening in April

April would have to be my favourite month. The temperatures are just right for gardening. The leaves are starting to slowly change colour. Probably the best part is, it is definitely the time to start planting. April is the month when there is a wide variety of tasks to tackle in the garden, you will not get bored. The repetitive tasks of mowing and weeding will hopefully be slowing down so there is time to start on what I consider much more appealing tasks. This past week in our client’s gardens we have planted, mulched, seeded lawn, fixed irrigation, fertilised and pruned. I love the variety of our work at this time of year. The more reasonable temperatures have opened the gate on getting lots more completed in the garden.

In this month's garden greetings newsletter we have introduced a new series called the Plant Doctor. This series has originated from our horticultural and tree consultations with clients. Recently we have been called out to assess a variety of trees and shrubs that have been attacked by different pests and diseases. With the wet spring and later summer conditions we have experienced here in the Hilltops region of NSW we have definitely noticed many more pests and diseases in the garden. This series aims to help you identify what the issue maybe and how to treat it. If you do have any pests or diseases attacking your plants feel free to email some images to me via glenice@glenicebuckdesigns.com.au - I will do my best to guide you in the right direction for treatment or book in a horticultural consult and I can visit your garden. For site visits charges vary depending on location. Also in this issue we have our regular garden tasks list and a continuation of our planting season series. If you would like to subscribe to my newsletter go to my website – www.glenicebuckdesigns.com.au or send me and email and I will add you to the subscribers list.
