Boorowa are the 2025 champions, winning the grand final 19 to 5 over Harden. A huge crowd gathered on the sidelines to watch the local derby, enjoying the fine weather despite the strong southerly breeze.
The Goldies opened the scoring through Mark Poplin, with their second coming from Josh Sloane. Both were converted so the Goldies went to half time 14-0 up.
Harden opened the scoring in the second half to make it 14-5 with a try to Jarrod Keelan but the Goldies defence held strong to keep them scoreless for the rest of the game.
A final Goldies try saw Boorowa take the game.
Captain/coach Keagan Size said, “The boys were huge today, and deserve this after two great seasons. The cold Tuesday night trainings are all worthwhile. This group of blokes, and this great club, are what country rugby is all about. Well done to Harden on a fantastic season - your team, club and supporters were fantastic all year - and you will be a force next year no doubt.”
Keagan was awarded Player of the Comp for a second year straight.
Marty Corcoran described it as ‘the best day ever.’ “Was great to see all the work put in over the last 10 years come to a premiership. The boys went out there and got the job done. It was a great day and a great atmosphere,” said Marty.
Life member Gus Clements congratulated all those involved. “The whole club has put in so much work for this over a number of years now. Well done to the players, but also a huge congratulations to the committee, members, old boys and supporters. You are all a part of this premiership.”
Secretary Steph Corcoran thanked the town for their support in the lead up to the win.
“What a week of support. Thank you to all supporters, sponsors, volunteers, committee and everyone in the Gold Army.”
The Goldies presentation night will take place on the 6th of September. Keep an eye on the Club’s Facebook page for details.
