The latest round of funding for the NSW Government’s Community War Memorials Fund and the Anzac Community Grants Program are now open for applications.
There is $175,000 available for projects across the state.
Minister for Veterans John Sidoti said every town or suburb had their own unique memorial which tells the story of local war history. “If your local memorial is in need of repair or restoration, encourage your council or local ex-services organisation to apply for a grant,” Mr Sidoti said.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to protect, conserve and repair war memorials including statues, honour rolls and memorial halls which commemorate the Anzac legacy through the Community War Memorials Fund.
Grants of up to $2000 are available to schools, community organisations and veteran’s groups to recognise Australia’s military service, educate a new generation and support the NSW veteran community through the Anzac Community Grants Project.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke called for applications across the region.
“It’s important the service and sacrifice of current and former NSW military personnel and our Anzac heritage is remembered and protected in the community,” Ms Cooke said.
“All of our communities would have links to military service and can tell of family members who have made us proud and humbled when we consider what they have done for us. I encourage community groups, RSL sub-branches, schools and councils across the Cootamundra electorate to apply before applications close on Remembrance Day.”
Applications for both grants programs close on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2019. For information about how to apply for a grant visit https://veteransnsw.smartygrants.com.au
