Steinke Claims June Medal
In what was a lovely winter’s day, with a mild breeze and sun shining, the conditions seemed so much harder on course for the gents competing in the Parker’s Smash Repairs June Monthly Medal. Nobody in the field, bar one, shot lower than their handicap for the day. Maybe it was the lesser run, the faster greens, who knows?

The man who did beat his handicap played solid, up the middle golf all day and was relatively faultless around the greens. Peter Steinke shot a very tidy 82 for a 68 nett. With this score, Peter picked up Bernie’s Trophy and also the A Grade Medal. On his way to winning the event and A Medal, Peter also collected the Bendigo Bank Nearest The Pin on the sponsored Hole in One hole, with a shot into 4.115m.

The B Grade medalist this month with a net of 71, playing to his handicap on the day when so many could not, was Michael Baldry. Michael piped some good drives and solid approaches to the greens in order to set this score up. Bernie also put forward a trophy for the B medalist as well as the winner of the day’s event so we thank Bernie for his continued and generous support of Harden Golf.

The Scratch scores for the day in A Grade went to Darrell Cassidy with a hard fought 81 to beat the day’s winner by 1 shot, whilst in B Grade this also went to Michael Baldry with his rock solid 89. Balls went back to 75 nett and were awarded to Tam Kennedy (71), Robert Bates (73), Bernard Parker (75) and Maurice Manwaring (75). Maurice also collected the lucky card draw for the day to take home some refreshing ales.

Pat Walker Claims June Medal
The ladies also found the going tough having a look at the GolfLink postings after their event. Pat Walker made the best of what she could out there and brought home an 82 nett to take out the day’s proceedings. Ev Shea came in for runner up and claimed a ball on 84 nett, whilst Marj Manwaring was only one shot further back.

The ladies and also gents wish golf regular Alexa Preston all the best after her recent trip to Sydney and trust she will be back pacing the greens shortly.

Billy Kildea Wins Midweek
Re-entering the winners circle this week is Bill Kildea. A 2018 regular to this column but not heard from much this year, Bill has brought out his mud running form to present on the top step this week. Bill has shot a nice 226 point round on the 12 hole par 24 point layout to claim the chocolates. Bill has had 2 shots deducted and will start this week on 14 handicap. In 2nd was David James, a mere 1 shot back on 25 points whilst David again featured for his other day round along with Grahame Taylor on 24 points. David also took the random ball draw.

This Weekend
This weekend sees the long weekend upon us and the modified events for the weekend will be; Saturday is a 2 person Ambrose, whilst Sunday will be a Canadian Foursomes (2 person). All events are mixed medley so everyone is welcome and some prizes have been lined up from the Sibelco kitty.
