Filmer Flames Field in December Medal
With warmer weather creeping, the Cherry Festival and many with commitments leading up to Ho Ho Time, a modest field faced the starter for the December Monthly Medal and Guzzlers Mug. Undeterred, the regulars in a strong but shortened field did battle with the dryer elements on Royal Harden and vied hard for the Country Club Trophy.
In a turn up for the books and quite some time now without worrying the judges, Craig Filmer has had a sneaky back 9 and some solid birdies in his round to claim the Day’s Trophy, the A Grade Medal and the Guzzlers Mug (duties suitably discharged in Club House) with a rock solid round of 79 for a 67 nett. The bogey on 18 proved costly in being unable to push the A Scratch winner on the day, Kevin Hoppe, off of his very respectable round of 78 scratch.
The B Grade Medallist and B Grade Scratch winner was Tam Kennedy, who may actually start to see his handicap take a U turn soon. Tam put together an 82 for a 68 nett and only 1 shot after handicap off the day’s event and mug.
Balls on the day went to Maurice Manwaring who had a 69 nett, Ron Kerr (70 nett) and Kevin Hoppe 71 nett. Ron Kerr claimed the nearest the pin on the Bendigo Bank Hole in One hole with tee shot on hole number 10. The random draw for the box of brown bubbly goodies went to Robert Bates, who was most thankful to independent drawer Laurie Monaghan.
Ladies Tuesday Golf
The ladies are continuing to improve with every week and the earlier timeslot is popular. Last Tuesday, the winning lady was Cathy Sanderson with a great 33 nett, well done Cathy. The runner-up was the go between golfer from Sydney, Deb DeGraff, on 38 nett, well done Deb.
Next Tuesday, a great morning at Gundagai has been arranged by Jacqui with a Xmas luncheon at the Gundagai Club after. All are looking forward to something different. Bring along a lot of golf balls as the course runs along the Murrumbidgee River, which could be interesting. Wishing everyone a Happy Xmas and a happy new year. Marj.
This Week
On Saturday, the field will face an Individual Stableford. Midweek is still continuing on Wednesdays and Fridays at their morning slot and the Summer Comp continues.
