Hawk-Eye Hammers in March Medal
Entering a purple patch of form at present is the Club’s own lad about town, John Hawk-Eye Hawkins. Playing rock solid golf during the current turmoil and tumbling handicaps from the World Handicapping System implementation, John has cornered the market at Saturday’s Monthly Medal brought by sponsor Harden Country Club.
John has brought in a round of 77/68 to claim the day’s event, the A Grade Medal, the A Scratch (countback from Kevin Hoppe) and the Guzzlers Mug to cap off a huge day out. Not happy with that swag of titles, John also claimed Nearest the Pin on the Bendigo Bank Hole in One hole. Unbelievable.
In B Grade, Mr Consistency has stepped up to the dais again. Bernie Parker is in the zone presently and just chugging along doing his thing. And that thing is good work. Despite four scores of 6 in a row (Judy), Bernie has brought it back into line for an 87/72 to claim the B Scratch and B Medal.
Balls on the day went back to 73 nett and were taken by Nathan Hawkins (71), David James (72), Bernie Parker (72) and Herb Manwaring (73). The random medal carton draw was claimed by Ron Page, a popular win.
Jacqui Solah First Medal
Claiming her first Saturday win, the Club’s very own golf fanatic Jacqui Solah has jumped up into the big leagues with it being the March Medal. In a tough day out on the links, Jacqui has shot a 76 nett to claim the day. A ball was claimed by Toni Filmer on 79 nett.
Unfortunately, due to the much-needed rain and combined with the greens treatments, play for midweek did not happen last week. This week everything is back on track with a vengeance.
Unified Stableford This Saturday
This Saturday will see the new feature of this year’s golf program, that being a more unified all-in series of events. This Saturday will be a Medley Stableford with all members welcome. Tee off from midday and presentation when the last group is in.
