Cassidy Collects February Medal
Weirdly, it’s said of late, under gloomy skies the field faced the starter for the Harden Country Club sponsored February Monthly Medal. The field were left a little stunned as the new World Handicapping System wreaked havoc on the course rating to slash handicaps under already blustery conditions and 3 club winds. No matter, for probably the best scrambling golfer in the Club with Darrell Cassidy not only playing to his new handicap but also collecting the event, best A Grade Scratch, the Monthly Medal and the Guzzlers Mug. Darrell has shot a 78/71 for these honours and it was truly a smart game of golf with so much going on.

In B Grade, Ron Page was the man getting it done. With a little more than a party going on in his head and at the back of the field in a group of 5, Ronnie spent the first 5 holes going off like a frog in a sock about everything around him. From the 5th hole he settled into his work and knocked out an admirable 91.75 for the B Scratch and B Medal.

Balls went back to 74 nett proving how tough the conditions were on course and mathematically, and were awarded to Bernie Parker (71), Brian Wales (73) and Tam Kennedy (74). The Bendigo Bank Hole in One did not go off this week with the nearest being Nathan Hawkins at 12 metres, Nathan jarred the putt for a career birdie nonetheless.

In a popular win, Brian Wales collected the box of brown sandwiches and making his day. Jacqui Solah also joined the field today and despite shooting a solid round on a tighter handicap, just fell short of the balls.

Herbie Takes Midweek
The Midweekers are back in force on their 12 hole, par 24 Stableford point course layout within the Championship layout.

In a week of rare but tight scoring, Herb Manwaring at 1 shot better than his handicap surprised himself and the field to take the lollies. Herbie 25 points just edged out Bob Stevo hitting a new form patch on 24 points. Both were just clear of David James with a tough round of 22 points.

The field was up on the regular size so a mystery random ball draw was in order and Marj Manwaring claimed this.

This Week
This Saturday will see the first round on the new ratings for the men’s and ladies courses which will equalise the WHS recent changes. On Saturday, a Stableford for all comers will be happening for a Club trophy.
