Father and Son in the Winners Circle at Harden Open
After a hiatus from organised comp golf for the Covid 19 Iso phase, Harden has held its 2020 Open Tournament on a green course in fine fettle and timed it just right to a break in the pending weather.

On the day, father and son combination Ben Glover and Jack Glover have taken a big piece of the prizes between them, claiming major event wins on the day. Dad Ben, who is a long time Harden Club Champion, claimed the Open Tournament win with a magical little -2 off the stick result, whilst son Jack took the B Grade Nett result with a round 8 better than his handicap for a superb 63 nett. Great stuff by our locals.

The Club enjoyed hosting visitors from Cootamundra, Yass, Queanbeyan, Murrumbidgee and Binalong on the day, putting together quite a reasonable field size under the circumstances. The results of the major events are as featured below and for the uninitiated, 71 is the par for the course.

Open/A Grade Event Winners
Open Champion - Ben Glover 69
Runner Up - Jarrad Porter 71
A Grade Nett Winner - Mark Parker 73
A Grade Nett Runner Up - Justyn Smith 74 c/b
A Grade Stableford Winner - Lachlan Kemp 33 pts

B Grade Event Winners
B Grade Scratch Winner - Maurice Manwaring 84
Runner Up - Scott Schofield 89 c/b
B Grade Nett Winner - Jack Glover 63
B Grade Nett Runner Up - Robert Stevenson 74
B Grade Stableford Winner - Thomas Smith 33 pts

Juniors Event Winners
Junior Winner - Jack Glover 63
Junior Runner Up - Thomas Smith 79

Regardless of the field size, thanks are due to all those who pitch in and help. From Karen Glover as Acting GM and Field starter/handicapper on the day, through to Rosemary Irving who did a great job on sustenance at the BBQ and to Mr and Mrs Elliott and Graeme Williams for scoring and prizes/announcing.

Feedback on the course condition and hospitality enjoyed by the visitors was fantastic and the Board of the Country Club was thanked roundly for hosting and sponsoring this year’s event.

This Week
Members and visitors are reminded that this Saturday will see a Medley Individual Stableford for the Coopers Choice Cuts Butchery Trophy. Under Covid rules, times are to be booked with the Club on 6386 2483 in your groups or at least get your name in for a group to be filled for you.

Results will be posted on the web page and news articles should be resuming again. The revised program for the 2nd half of the year is available in the Club House.

I trust I will be looking at you across the links…
