Kennedy & Filmer Aggregate a Win

As we start to wind into the program proper this year, we start to get into some teams events. It is planned to have at least one team based weekend each calendar month and it has been mixed up a bit this year with some Aggregate’s, some Multipliers and some American & Canadian Foursomes. Augers well for a bit of fun and keeping it interesting, in and around our Club Majors.

This weekend was a 4BBB Aggregate where both players play their individual stableford round, however BOTH players scores add to the total on each hole. As a benchmark, both players playing to their handicap and making 36 points, would result in a team score of 72 points. But then the human factor kicks in and both players playing at or above their handicap in a single round is a bit of a pipe dream. An individual stableford round was played in conjunction this last weekend to keep the handicapper in some work.

Perennial plodders, Tam Kennedy & Craig Filmer who are always in their own little Keno Matchplay against each other each week, used this very method to put together a winning aggregate round and to win the day’s vouchers. Tam knocked out 36 points on his own and Craig bought the Keno with 34 points for a combined total of 70 in the day’s event. These boys were early Club House leaders and got to watch a few pairs mowing down the course and the score, before hand brakes appear to be applied on 17 and 18. Bobby Randall’s fence just looms large when the hunt is on for points …..

Runners Up on the day were Harry Sachs & Dan McGrath who collected the first of the drink vouchers, on a countback from Matt Peisley & John Brownhill, both pairs had 65 points. Kevin Hoppe and Ron Page then followed with 62 points.

A further refreshment voucher went to the winner of the Individual Stableford held in conjunction. Harry Sachs opened his account for the year with 2 better than his ever diminishing handicap at 38 points. Heard after the round, Harry has already put tickets on himself for this year making Club Champion high on his wish list. Goal setting is a great thing, and with a year like he had last year I think he is still like the man with the wheelbarrow ….. the job is all ahead of him. Will be great watching Harry’s progression this year.

This Week

This week we dive back into an Individual Stableford (Medley). With some run developing, a few weeks since we had rain and the greens starting to be firm and fast, the course has a fair amount of risk/reward going on. It will be interesting to note the scores as presently, playing at or about your handicap will at least put you in the refreshment voucher list.

Remember to login to Golf Genius and look to register in the 2021/2022 events section for 19/02/2022 and this event. If the app is not your bag, please call the Club prior to arriving at Golf to have the staff assist you entering. Just lobbing and trying to get staff serving patrons do all this at the same time is not quite fair.

Also, do enter your front 9 in for the Pepe’s Duck Run, or come and play Sunday with some friends. Awesome value at $8 for 9 holes with a post round refreshment voucher there to hook you back into the Club. Come and enjoy a couple of hours on our magnificent course.

See you there
