Bray Water Ambrose a gushing success Saturday saw the Harden Country Club Course and the recent Contractors engaged to deliver the new watering system to our links under a generous NSW Government Grant, host an Open 4 Person Ambrose event, enjoyed by one and all.

Our hosts were the Bray Family who when combined, trade as Bray Water – specialist golf course irrigation specialists who have installed the Rain Bird system at Harden. This system is the very same as that installed as some luminary World Courses such as Pebble Beach in the United States. A great contingent of the Family Company were on hand to participate and to ferry refreshments on course as the temperature started to soar, keeping all and sundry fed and hydrated.

A Covid maximum field was attained of 132 on course, and in the first year of any new event this is a remarkable attendance with players travelling from quite a number of regional Clubs – Young, Yass, Boorowa, Cootamundra, Tumut and beyond. The Club and the sponsors thank you for joining us on this day. Special thanks also to the Bray Family who not only put $4,000 in for the day and broken up generously on hospitality and sizeable place getter gift cards, they joined in, in every way to host alongside our faithful staff, and make the day a success. Well done!

Scratch scores saw half the field within 4 shots of the winners who shot -9 for the day, whilst nett scores again saw 4 shots cover the top half of the field as well with winners at approx. -15 for the day.

Our event winners for the day in very closely fought and low scoring, were as follows;

Scratch Division
Winners – 62 c/b – Ryan Terry, Sam Woods, Michael Alexander and Mathew McKnight (Young)

R/Ups - 62 c/b – Bailey Coombes, Jake Veney, Nick Bush, Will Manwaring (Young)

Nett Division (After Handicap)
Winners – 56.12 nett – Jacqui Solah, David Solah, David James, Simon Oakes (Harden/Young)

R/Ups - 57.12 nett – Cameron & Charlie Fairfield-Smith, Edan Campbell-O’Brien, Phillip Ferris (Harden)

Our sponsors have announced they will be back next year in November and when CoVID lifts, this could be another premier event at Harden Country Club – home of specialist Ambrose Events and so much more.

This Week
Speaking of Ambrose… This Saturday is a very special day on the Golf Calendar. Peter Davis was a faithful and tireless devotee of our course and prior to him being struck down with illness, was Golf President at the time. Each year, the Davis clan of Harden host a big charity event day in his honour with proceeds going to the Charity of Choice for the year. In past years CanAssist has been well supported by this day, much needed money to support regional families get the best care.

No doubt you will have been texted if you are in the loop at our Club or you can enter online at www.hardencountryclub.com (drop the .au) or buzz the staff on 6386 2483. It is a 2 person ambrose this week and there is usually a handsome batch of prizes yet the day is about Charity, so get em out, dust em off and start banging away at the little white ball to do your part. See you there.
