Kuhn Goes Deep in Summer Stableford
It must be Summer again! Every week, someone has to go hard and post a crazy number you just won’t see in winter golf. Call it the rub of the green, the bounce of the ball, the planets aligning and all that. Well, this week it was the always wily and definitely cunning, Eric Kuhn, to grab his 5 minutes stuck in the headlights.

Eric has presented after his round, with a score 8 shots better than his handicap, recording 44 Stableford points. Normally this is a target that this scribe aspires to in a 4BBB with a good partner, however Mr Kuhn has come out and let the handicapper know he is just not a Sunday Skins specialist, but the real deal on Saturdays.

Mind you, Eric did not have it all his own way. The Club’s very own Sherlock Holmes in Tom Poole was a mere 1 shot behind Eric, posting an absolute blinder himself for 43 Stableford points – 7 shots better than his handicap. Eric took the day’s trophy provided by the Harden Country Club, whilst Tom led off the ball comp with his rip snorter of a round. Subsequent balls then went to Ashley Hall on 39 points and the grossly and generously handicapped Ron Page has done just enough for a ball on 38 in a countback. Keep scoring like this boys and single figures handicaps await you all.

Bill Kildea Wins Penultimate Midweek for 2019
The hardy hot weather midweekers shot off in the earlier cool this week on Wednesday and Friday. Stepping up without warning or recent form that normally sees him sneak up from 5 weeks out, Billy Kildea has claimed the choccies this week. On the formidable 12 hole course layout which accounts as 24 Stableford points for a par round, Mr Kildea has gone 7 shots better for a 31 point round. Billy has earnt himself now a new handicap for 2020 of a mere 14 after he had 7 shots deducted. Ouch, a 33% reduction!

Coming in second with a score that has won in recent weeks but did not cut the mustard this week, Bob Stevenson shot 3 better than his handicap for a 27 point round. Ron Kerr and another sub-par round from Bill Kildea on his other day score of 25 points, has seen out the podium placings for the week.

With the midweekers hopefully getting a game in this week as the scorch comes on with the weather, this will see them out for 2019, with play resuming in the first week of January 2020.

This Week
A catastrophic set of conditions look likely on Saturday with a 45 degree day forecast and this may be too much for scheduling golf under the Club’s heat policy. An individual Stableford is scheduled, yet organisers may modify this dependent upon who turns up, carts etc.

From the Albino Clan of the South Coast Tribe, may you, yours and everyone you care about, receive some love, warmth and good tidings as your best present in this holy time.

Merry Xmas.
