Sachs Wins November Medal

Last Saturday saw the Club conduct its belated November Medal, the delay due in part to the rescheduled 2021 Bendigo Bank Australian 2 Man Ambrose Championships and another major Sponsor day in the Bray Water Invitational. Proving to be the most reliable weather wise course in South West Golf, notable flights of golfers from not only home field competitors but also from Young & Cootamundra whose home courses were closed from recent rains.

Better later than never was the opinion of our event winner Harry Sachs. Harry has swept all before him in his breakout year of 2021 between Championships, McLean Gold Cup & Dempster Cup. Harry has picked up on Saturday – the Event Win sponsored by the Country Club (39 stableford points), the B Grade Medal (68 nett), the B Grade Best Scratch Round (84 off the stick) and ………. the Guzzlers Mug. Not a bad Saturday out in howling winds and faster greens than the rain has been letting us have.

Our A Medallist and also best Scratch for the field went to Kevin Hoppe who shot a meritorious 79 in very tough conditions and even left 3 or 4 putts out on course. Runner Ups were, in A Grade David James, whilst in B Grade this went to an ever improving David Solah.

Results in the day’s competition were; Winner Harry Sachs (voucher for 39 points), Balls to David Solah (34), Kevin Hoppe (33), Maurice Manwaring (33), Daryl Whinnam (32) & Ashley Hall (32). Best Scratch balls went to Harry & Kevin as stated before.

This Week

Maybe it was part of a programing master stroke by Club Management not letting the November Medallist, Harry Sachs have the Guzzlers Mug for more than 1 week due to the scheduling anomalies. May save the Club some in beer and members in having to dig deep when the Mug is placed before them.

This Saturday we have a quick turnaround into our December Medal and therefore Medal number 2 for the 2021/2022 Medal of Medals next November. All are welcome and a medley individual stableford will be played in conjunction with the boy’s medal scratch & nett rounds.

Weather forecast looks good, lets see a big field and lets enjoy a green course in November with some ripper golf !
