Australian 2 Man Ambrose Champions Crowned
Last weekend saw Harden Country Club conduct its 30th edition of the Bruce Ware Australian 2 Man Ambrose Championships, proudly brought to us by the Harden-Murrumburrah Bendigo Bank. Whilst the event was conducted with a slightly reduced and COVID safe field size and conditions, the Golf was of top class and the scoring was hot.

Our Champions this year were no strangers to the title, with Cootamundra pairing Paul Deep and Daryl O’Keefe edging their nearest rivals by 1 shot to collect the title for their 4th time. Paul and Daryl scored a very impressive 63/62 for a weekend tally of 17 under par, or 125 shots off the stick.

Only one shot back with a Sunday not quite as good as their Saturday saw Matthew Gordon and Tom Crockart record a 62/64 for an aggregate of 126 to take runners up position.

In our B Grade title race long term attendees, as this event seems to breed with its popularity, in brothers John & Stephen Hollie have come through with an impressive day two scoring that made the difference. The boys scored 73/68 for an aggregate of 141 and putting paid to the hopes of keen local golfers Ron Page and Kevin Hope who shot 74/71 for 145.

Our sponsors, the Harden-Murrumburrah Community Bendigo Bank spoke at the presentation and between Board Member Ev Shea and new CEO Julie, they were very impressed with the field size, the popularity and the exposure received, being a part of this great event. Bendigo Bank had two Hole in One’s firing for the weekend on Holes 10 & 18, yet not claimed. A hole in one was recorded on hole 16 on Sunday yet this was not where the bikkies were piled up for claiming.

Whilst COVID safe at 144 field size and altered teeing arrangements, the field still greatly enjoyed the event also. Bendigo Bank have announced that their partnership with the Harden Country Club will continue next year and with hopefully safer public health days ahead, big things are planned where the real 30th Birthday bash will be held. Great News!

Club Chairman Cameron Fairfield-Smith was keen with his praise for the sponsors, the Club Management and Green’s Staff and the work of the Golf Match Committee who all pitch in to make this a special day for the Harden-Murrumburrah region. As well, the bunch of Club Members who gave a hand in the final week to help quell this season’s growth from recent rains, your assistance was greatly appreciated.

The major titles played for and won were as follows:
