Harden Kite Festival Back This Year

The Harden Kite Festival Committee has put in the hard yards to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever, especially after a two-year break due to lockdowns.

This year’s theme is Kites, Carnival and Kraft.

The events of 2018 and 2019 were the largest Harden Kite Festivals on record, each boasting between 4000 and 8000 attendees.

Harden Kite Festival, one of three major festivals on the Hilltops region’s event calendar, has grown substantially over the years, thanks to increased support from the community. The event wouldn’t be possible without sponsorship and support from local businesses.

Professional kite flyers from all over Australia travel to the Festival and bring their beautiful array of colourful, eye-catching kites.

The skies of Harden fill with giant whales, crabs, butterflies, spiders, Sponge Bob - and that’s just a small selection.

This year’s family-friendly day out is a ticketed event, with an endless array of free activities for the kids and adults alike to have fun.

Activities include circus classes, African drumming, kite decorating workshops, kite flying and kite competitions. A great range of interesting market stalls will also be onsite so you can purchase a few early gifts for Christmas.

Grab yourself some all-day ride passes for Round-Up, Big Ball Wipeout and a host of other exciting rides. Bring along a picnic or take advantage of the tasty food and great coffee available for purchase.

The Harden Kite Festival engages over 250 volunteers from the local community to make the Festival the wonderful experience it is.

No matter what size your kite, small or large, the Harden Racecourse has plenty of space for them to soar.
