It was a beautiful day to hold the official opening of the Harden-Murrumburrah Rotary Community Garden last Wednesday, March 8.
The driving force behind the community garden, Rita O’Connor said it was good to see so many attend the event.
“There was a great roll-up of young and old as we cut the ribbon and shared cake and picnics,” Ms O’Connor said.
“This project would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of so many people in our community and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Ms O’Connor said the garden would continue to evolve. “We will have a committee and working bees will continue as the need arises,” she said.
“We will also be planning a couple more workshops on different garden topics. We hope the community continues to be involved.”
In terms of Rotary, the AGM was held on Tuesday, March 14 because in all the excitement of the official opening of the community garden it was missed.
“We had a huge day with the barbecue at the Truck and Tractor Show,” Ms O’Connor said.
“We had an International Women’s Day dinner with high school student Bianca Burns as guest speaker.”
Miss Burns attended the National Youth Science forum for STEM, a two-week forum in Canberra.
Rotary will be catering for a reception soon, but before then they have the Eugowra fundraiser.
