Time is closing in on one of Harden’s most anticipated annual events - the Harden Kite Festival.

You may have spotted the festival signs just near the Silo Art and opposite Twin Town Pizza.

Organisers have been busily planning for the festival, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 7.

They have already organised plenty of activities, markets and entertainment, but there is still plenty of scope for new members, particularly those who could help create free activities that would allow them to interact with children or anyone with marketing knowledge and ideas about getting the word out to the Hilltops and surrounding local government areas as far as Canberra.

Stallholder applications will remain open until Thursday, August 31. Interested individuals and groups can head to https://forms.office.com/r/Xw1eSPZKG3 to find the online application form or try the official kite festival website.

Here are a few that have already signed up:

  • Australian Army Band (AAB) Kapooka - Pep Band’s OIC CPL Burgess;
  • Young Town Band;
  • Hilltops Choir Inc;
  • Circus McCabe Aerial Performances;
  • Coota Bollywood Dancers;
  • Dance with Miss Em;
  • Professional Kite Flyers Display from all over Australia; and
  • Local Car Club Display.

As always, there will be plenty to keep the kids of all ages entertained throughout the event, with much of it free of charge making the Harden Kite Festival a very affordable family outing.

Last year almost half of the attendees were children under the age of 12.

Over the coming weeks and months, more information will be released about everything that has been planned for the main event and little surprises along the way.

The Kite Festival Committee held a kite decorating and craft stall at the Hilltops Council’s Mothers Day Street Party on Thursday, May 11, and they plan to do similar things in the lead up to the main Festival.
