The Boorowa Local Health Advisory Committee takes part in 2024 May LHAC Forum in Leeton last week.

Consumer advocates from across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) met in Leeton last week for the 2024 May LHAC Forum.

The forum is held twice each year for Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) members to join together to discuss health issues and ideas and share their initiatives with the health service leaders from the MLHD and the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN).

The theme for this forum was ‘Community Inspired Innovation’ seeking community championed inspiration where communities were the focus, and the arbiters of change.

The forum provided an opportunity to listen to community voices for insight into innovation to effectively advocate for better health outcomes and contribute to lifting health outcomes in our region.

Speakers from Rural Doctors Network, the Regional Health Division and the Health and Knowledge precinct joined the LHAC members to inspire and discuss a range of topics with a focus on innovation.

Keynote speaker Richard Colbran, CEO of the Rural Doctors Network and Chair of the Regional Health Ministerial Advisory Panel, delivered a presentation on innovative practices in social leadership.

The forum also included workshops to provide LHAC members with the tools and skills to implement what they had learned when they returned to their own communities.

Around 80 delegates attended the 2024 May LHAC forum in Leeton on Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10.
