Hennessy Happenings In The Hilltops

In the year 2000, St Mary’s Catholic Secondary School officially became Hennessy Catholic College with the commencement of education for senior students.

In 2020, Hennessy Catholic College will be celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing a quality, affordable senior secondary education option to students in Young and surrounding regions. Celebratory events will be occurring throughout the year as we acknowledge this wonderful milestone.

The start of the educational year has been outstanding, our large Year 7 cohort have thrown themselves into all aspects of high school life with great enthusiasm.

Year 11 students headed to Galong for a 3 day retreat focused on self- reflection and goal setting. The 3 days also aided in establishing strong social bonds within the cohort as they begin their final years of schooling together.

Week 3 saw students take to the water for the annual College swimming carnival. Despite the unusually wet conditions, the level of participation from all houses was fantastic. Congratulations to our age champions and our winning house McAuley.

The College’s new principal, Mrs Kathy Holding and various members of staff have recently been visiting our various local communities where they have been hosting BBQs. The BBQs are invaluable for both staff and regional parents to establish new relationships and cement old acquaintances as we continue the educational journey with our students. We have thoroughly enjoyed our regional tour and thank all those parents whom came along.

Most recently the College came together to celebrate its Opening Mass. The Opening Mass provided us with the opportunity to acknowledge and welcome all new students and staff to the Hennessy community and to officially launch the new school year. Our new College House Vice Captains were also officially recognised with their badge presentation.
