Hilltops Council are seeking comments on the recently completed Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy. Council resolved at their March meeting to endorse this Strategy being placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days. Council is seeking feedback from the community to further inform economic and land use planning across the Hilltops Council area.

The Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy is one of a series of studies being undertaken to inform the review of land use planning strategies and requirements in Hilltops.

This review includes the preparation of a 20 year land use planning vision for Hilltops and the supporting Local Environmental Plan (LEP). Council will be seeking community input in to both these documents later this year.

The Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy has analysed trends in our region and identified growth industries and employers. This includes highlighting four primary constraints and the potential strategies to overcome them to support and attract future growth. It will also help inform the land use planning review in terms of where economic growth activities are most likely to be successful and how they will interact with the other activities found within Hilltops communities.

The Strategy is available to view on Council’s website https://hilltops.nsw.gov.au/Council/About-the-council/Draft-Polices-Procedures-on-Display.aspx

Copies are also available at Hilltops Council Offices and Libraries. Submissions are to be received in writing or via email to submissions@hilltops.nsw.gov.au with ‘Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy’ in the subject line. Submissions must be received by 6 May 2019.
