Canberra businesses have been invited to SAVOUR Hilltops on Monday, May 1.

Wine producers of the HIlltops region will head to the nation’s capital with a selection of their highly acclaimed and award-winning wines on Monday, May 1 for members of Canberra’s wine trade at SAVOUR Hilltops.

The event, held at the Vibe Hotel (Canberra Airport) from 2 pm to 6 pm, is by invitation only, welcoming sommeliers, wine retailers, caterers and other hospitality staff to taste what the Hilltops producers had to offer in hopes of reinforcing and growing awareness of the cool wine climate region and the diversity and calibre of their wines.

Our region sustains over 600 hectares of vines, from the classic cabernet sauvignon and shiraz to more recent plantings of Italian-origin varieties - Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and the rare Corvina and Rondinella.

Wine companies exhibiting in Canberra next week include Hilltops GI-based family companies Ballinaclash, Freeman Vineyards and Grove Estate.

They will be joined by Hilltops Associates, wineries located elsewhere that produce wines using grapes from the Hilltops region, including Allendale, Collector Wines, Corang Estate, Gundog Estate, Hungerford Hill and Murrumbateman Winery.

ACT winemaker, Nick Spencer recently lauded the wines of the Hilltops region for their varietal diversity.

In fact, there are over 25 different grape varieties grown on the elevated Hilltops slopes, ranging from the classics to alternative varieties including Graciano, Fiano, Prosecco, Tempranillo and Viognier.

Partners for SAVOUR Hilltops include NSW Wine, Hilltops Council and Plumm Glassware.
