The region’s young people won’t have to look too far for something to do over the July school holidays because Hilltops Youth Action Group (HYAG) has created a real treat.

They are hosting three scavenger hunts across Young, Harden and Boorowa.

Hilltops Youth Engagement & Inclusion Officer, Georgia Thomaidis said scavenger hunts were something new for HYAG.

“This is the first time the Hilltops Youth Action Group are running this type of activity,” Ms Thomaidis said.

“HYAG meets regularly to discuss unique and exciting activities for young people.”

“This hunt is aimed to allow young people to problem solve and find out who is up to date with local knowledge.”

“We encourage all young people to get out and about and be active.”

The rules are simple:

  • The first clue will be posted at 10 am on the day of the scavenger hunt.
  • Hunters must follow the order of clues from first to last.
  • This hunt is not a race - hunters must take a selfie or photo at each location making sure to clearly identify where they are. (Don’t be afraid to get creative with your photos.)
  • When the hunt is complete, post all your photos in one message to HYAG’s Facebook or Instagram page.
  • Any cheating, stealing, sabotaging, removing hidden clues or breaking the law will result in automatic disqualification.
  • Hunters must follow the HYAG on Facebook and/or Instagram.

Ms Thomaidis said hunters can hunt solo or as a pack.

“We don’t mind either way if people choose to participate on their own or in a group,” she said.

“Anyone who sends in the photos of each location will go into the draw, so each participant in the group will have a chance to win.”
