Thank you to those who attended our Customer Service Forums last week and to those who have completed the online survey. This feedback will be used to influence the way Council does business and shape our Customer Service Charter. After spending some time with the consultants, I am confident that Council can work towards improvement across all areas of interaction with our community.

Our BlazeAid volunteers are still working in the region to assist landholders repair extensive damage caused by recent floods. So far, they have provided assistance to over twenty landholders. I thank these volunteers for their work and thank the community groups who have been preparing their meals each day and ensuring they have a positive experience.

On Saturday I attended the Harmony Day event in Young. This event was organised by the Young and District Multicultural Association and was very well attended. Harmony Day is celebrated annually across the world by people coming together and participating in local activities to promote community participation, inclusiveness, celebrating cultural diversity, respect and belonging. This is a timely reminder in light of recent events that ‘we all belong.’ I am sure that the entire community join me in sending our sympathy and thoughts to our neighbouring nation, New Zealand.

This month’s Village Workshop was held last week in Murringo. The community shared with Council their vision for the community. This included a request for a Village Plan featuring shared footpaths and cycleways throughout the village. This will be investigated by Council as part of our ongoing budget reviews for 2019/20. The next Village Workshop will be held at Reids Flat on Wednesday 10th April from 6pm at the Reids Flat Hall.

Just a reminder that everyone is required to vote in the NSW State Election on Saturday. We are very fortunate that we live in a democratic society where you get the opportunity to vote for the people or party that you think will best manage the interests of NSW residents.
