Contact the Hilltops Community Hub and book your seat on the ‘Art-Rageous Bus Tour’ they and Community Transport are offering on Saturday, March 16.

Naomi and Cathy from the Hilltops Community Hub are taking a tour of five locations as part of the Hilltops Off the Beaten Track celebrations and it promises to be art-rageous.

Naomi said the Community Hub had participated in the Off the Beaten Track Art Trail (OTBT Art Trail) for the last couple of years and traditionally had opened the Hub to showcase their art and craft done throughout each year.

“This year, we just wanted to do something a little different so we organised the tour,” Naomi said.

“It happened that Community Transport was planning a very similar trek so we joined together and the outcome was the ‘Art-rageous Bus Tour’.”

“It definitely works in our favour as Kelly has offered to increase the bus capacity if necessary, too.”

This joint venture offers a full day, from 9:30 am to 3 pm, of visits to a selection of local galleries and open gardens and is an opportunity to let someone else do the organising and driving while you sit back and experience some of what the OTBT Art Trail has to offer.

“As mentioned, we wanted to do things differently this year and offer an opportunity to as many people as possible to join in,” Naomi said.

“We especially thought there might be people out there that don’t have a companion to art trail with or those that wouldn’t necessarily head out by themselves but might like to do it as part of an organised group.”

“Having said that, friend and family groups are most welcome, too.”

“The more the merrier.”

The day will kick off at 9:30 am with local Studio and Sculpture Garden in Young followed by a coffee stop at a studio on the edge of town where those on the tour will see a range of art, craft and unique jewellery.

Murringo for lunch is next on the agenda with more artworks, historic buildings, sculptures and gardens to see.

The art-rageous tour bus will return to Young to visit one last gallery at 2 pm before returning to the Marie McCormick Centre at 3 pm.

“Not only will the group experience a wide range of art medium and time to be awed by the talent of our Hilltops artists, but they will also get to sit back and relax in comfort while all the driving is done for them,” Naomi said.

“Community Transport and the Hub have planned a day full of enjoyment which includes a picnic lunch and good company.”

“The best thing is that absolutely anyone over the age of 18 years can jump on board so you can expect a diverse group of people wanting to enjoy the experience as much as you do.”

“We expect the trip itself to be half the fun with a few travelling games set to give us all a giggle.”

Naomi said the art-rageous bus tour could return, though no plans had been made at this stage.

“We are always trying new things and finding new experiences for people to enjoy so all going well we might do some sort of revised version next year - stay tuned.”

This bus adventure will take place on Saturday, March 16.

The cost is $12 per person and includes transport and a picnic lunch.

Seats are limited, so make sure you contact the Community Hub to book your spot by Tuesday, March 12.
