Josh Flick of Rye Park was one of seven students this year to receive a Tilt Renewables - Country Education Foundation (CEF) grant, which he will use to cover educational experiences linked with his agricultural studies.

Growing up on a family farm, Mr Flick has lived and breathed agriculture his entire life, and he plans to work as a farm manager after finishing his education.

“I want to manage a farm first, and then eventually own my own farm,” he said.

Mr Flick is studying his first year of a Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Charles Sturt University’s Wagga campus.

With education expenses that can exceed $7000 per year, Mr Flick said the $2000 from the Country Education Foundation had already been a huge help.

"I’ve used it to cover the cost of accommodation on campus which is a bit over $7000 per year,” he said.

“The funding has allowed me to spend more time on my studies, as I haven’t had to look for extra work on the side to help pay for my expenses.”

“I’ve got a lot out of studying economics in my degree so far, especially learning about the business side of agriculture,” Mr Flick explained.

Tilt Renewables Executive General Manager, Tom Villiers, said its partnership with the Country Education Foundation allowed it to provide intergenerational advantages for the communities of Rye Park, Boorowa and Yass.

“These students have demonstrated significant potential through hard work and perseverance with their studies and we hope with the assistance of these scholarships they will enjoy every success,” Mr Villiers.

“It would be great to see these students one day working in the renewables sector or even for Tilt Renewables.”
