On Wednesday, 16th July, Boorowa Landcare Group hosted a special screening of the Australian film Just A Farmer. The powerful and emotionally resonant movie struck a chord with the local farming community, with many attendees describing it as one of the most impactful films they had seen in a long time. Well produced and deeply authentic, the storyline reflected the real and often difficult experiences faced by farmers across rural Australia.

The event was made even more meaningful by the presence of writer, producer, and executive producer Leila McDougall, who joined a panel discussion following the film. She was accompanied by shearer and farmer John Harper, as well as psychologist Dr Loraine Anderson. Together, they engaged with the community in a heartfelt and thoughtful discussion on topics such as mental health in farming communities and the ongoing social and cultural divide between urban and rural life.

Boorowa Landcare Group extended their gratitude to Boorowa Rotary and the Boorowa Ex-Services Club for their generous support in helping bring the event to life. Thanks were also given to Boorowa Central School and local businesses that assisted in promoting the screening throughout town.

For those who missed the event but would still like to see the film, Just A Farmer is available to rent on Apple TV or directly through the following link: https://movie.justafarmermovie.com/checkout/just-a-farmer/purchase
