Harden is gearing up to launch the 14th annual Harden Kite Festival this Saturday, October 12.

The theme for this year’s Festival is kites – canola – country. 1000 free kites will be available for decorating and flying at the Festival’s dedicated public kite flying area.

Over 20 kite enthusiasts from around Australia will form the display team for the big kite spectacle.

Entertainment will include live performances by heartland rock singer Benn Gunn, ladies whip-cracking champion Emilqua East and Canberra Swing Katz dance act.

There will be 30 international food stalls and a dedicated drink stall as well as over 50 market stalls operating on the day.

$15 unlimited ride passes from 10am to 4pm will be available, or $5 per ride. The free kids activity alley will include handmade kite workshops, face painting, paper plane workshop and a rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) display by the Australian Navy.

As last year saw a huge crowd of over 8000 people, double that of the crowd attending in 2017, Hilltops Council has engaged a professional traffic management company for the Festival. There will be separate entrances for traffic arriving from Canberra and traffic arriving from Young/Cootamundra.

The Festival will run from 10am to 5pm at the Harden Picnic Racecourse on Burley Griffin Way. Entry is by $2 donation per person and it is an alcohol free event.
