The lady bowlers have a busy couple of months ahead of them. At present the Club Pairs Championships are in progress and the District Pennants are also being played.

In the first round of the Club Pairs Championships Robyn Apps and Jill Rosen played Jenny Holt and Kate Cooper and it was Jenny and Kate who were the winners.

They then went on to play Elsie Hines and Heather Bailey in the next round.

This was a very close contest with the lead changing regularly from one to the other.

Over the last three ends Elsie and Heather held the lead and were 2 in front on the last end.

However, on Kate’s last bowl she managed to get three shots and so give Jenny and herself a win by one shot!

In the next round - the final - Jenny and Kate play Sheila Traynor and Margaret Gailey.

This won’t be played for a couple of weeks because of Pennants.

In the South Western District Pennants Competition Round 1 was between Harden/Boorowa and Cootamundra Ex-Services/Grenfell.

This resulted in a comfortable win for Boorowa/Harden giving them 4 points and Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell 1 point.

In round 2 played at Cootamundra Ex Services Club, Young played Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell.

The games were closely contested but Young managed to get ahead to be the overall winners 57-35 giving Young 4 points and Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell one point.

On Saturday 17th Young played Boorowa/Harden at Young.

Again, some good matches but Young managed to hold the lead and were the overall winners 59-23. This gave Young all 5 points.

Total of points so far are: Young 9, Boorowa/Harden 4, Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell 2.

Young as Grade 3 has to finish at the top of the points table to qualify for the Regional Playoffs.

The next round is Thursday 23rd when Young plays Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell at Young.
