The Grade 3 Pennant team from Young are off to Ballina in May to play in the State Pennant Finals. They accumulated enough points over Grade 4 to secure this win.

The final round of the District Pennant Grade 4 was played last weekend between Harden/Boorowa and Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell. This match was to determine who would be the Grade 4 winners for 23/24. When all points were added the outcome resulted in a win for Harden/Boorowa with 154 points defeating Cootamundra Ex/Grenfell 150 points. They will now play in the Regional play- offs to be held in Young on April 13th and 14th.

Last Thursday (7th) a very hot day, the final of the Club Pairs Championships was played between Jenny Holt and Kate Cooper and Sheila Traynor and Margaret Gailey.

The game was very even for the first half and by the 13th end the score was 11 all. Kate and Jenny then remained on 11 for the next 4 ends while Sheila and Margaret were scoring 1 or 2 shots. After the 20th end there was 2 shots the difference. Sheila and Margaret needed to hold their lead and Kate and Jenny needed 3 to win.

The result was that Sheila and Margaret scored 1 on the last end giving them 20-17 and making them the winners and Club Pairs Champions.

The next two weeks are busy for our bowlers as many are playing in the State Finals being held at Dubbo.

Next Saturday and Sunday Sheila and Cliff Traynor play in the State Mixed Pairs.

On Monday and Tuesday Elsie Hines, Heather Bailey, Margaret Gailey play in the Senior Triples. A few days later they return along with Lisa Boyd, to play in the State Fours.

The following Monday, Tuesday Denis Rosen and Brian Christie play in the Open Reserve Pairs. Peter Watts will play in the Senior Men’s Singles starting on 23rd March.

Our District also has two ladies from Cootamundra Ex Services - Janice Roberts and Diana Buchanan – playing in the Senior Pairs and Sue Gault from Grenfell playing in the Senior Singles.

This is a very strong representation from our own Club and from the District.

Congratulations to all and good bowling.

The next major event for our club is that we are hosting the Regional Pennant Playoffs for the Grade 4 Pennant sides - South Western, Riverina, Southern Slopes on April 13th and 14th.
