The Lions Club of Young held its dinner meeting on July 27, welcoming two guest speakers from Hilltops Council.

Destination and Economy Manager, Mel Whitechurch spoke first, giving a very interesting presentation on Hilltops tourism and the many developments that were shaping to become attractions in the Shire and contributing to economic growth.

Ms Whitechurch emphasised the contributions of small businesses across the region.

Next up was Youth Engagement Officer, Georgia Thomaidis who shared with the members her work with the Hilltops region’s youth, including the villages.

The Working with Youth program meets once a month with at least 17 workshops annually.

All youth obtain training in different fields and, therefore, increase their chances of employment.

After fielding questions from Lions Club members, both speakers were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Vice President, David Hughes.
