Lions Club of Young Stitches Up Annual Quilt Show

The Lions Club of Young held its annual Quilt Show on the weekend of May 27 and 28.

It was an amazing show with over 100 quilts and small quilted items on display.

Over 280 visitors came through the doors from near and far to catch a glimpse of the quilts and to see the eight stallholders who held demonstrations across the weekend.

The Club’s thanks go out to all of the visitors who braved the weather and supported the Lions Club.

District Governor for N4, Mr Michael Ryan, accompanied by his wife Judy, opened the show.

Winners of each Quilt section were:

  • Large quilt - 1st, Mrs Lyndal Roxbourgh, equal 1st Robyn Cowdrown, Equal 2nd Penne Nutall and Jeanette Scott.
  • Small quilts - 1st Carol Glascow, 2nd Julia Green and 3rd Margaret Bishop.
  • Challenge - 1st Julie Elliott, 2nd Annabelle Sullivan and 3rd Joy Goodman.
  • Other quilted items - 1st Heather Miller, 2nd Kay Noakes and 3rd Angel Parsons.
  • Raffle - 1st Judy Ryan, 2nd Kerry Duffy, 3rd Leanne Jacobs and 4th Angela Gillard.

District Governor, Michael and President, Paul presented Lion, Carmel Price with a certificate of appreciation and flowers for her dedication to her club over many years.

Carmel’s fellow Lions members and the wider community congratulated Carmel and wished her well.

The Club also thanked visitors who purchased raffle tickets and supported them over the two-day event.

All monies received on the day will go towards assisting the local community.

A special thank you went to Rotary members and family members, including Kevin and Marilyn Stemm who helped set up on Friday and during the weekend.

Lions Club of Young also thanked all of their sponsors, including an anonymous donor.
