Men’s Health Education Rural Van (MHERV) recently visited Boorowa, providing free health screenings for those in the area.

The custom built MHERV van, along with registered nurse Rob Woolley, visited Boorowa on the 21st and 22nd of October. Rob saw and assessed 39 people over the two days, 10 were women. Rob took readings such as blood pressure, sugar levels and cholesterol levels.

Rob gave friendly feedback and advised if any follow up with a GP was needed. Amongst those he saw, more than 10 were recommended to go for a routine GP check up, over 20 were recommended to see their GP as soon as possible and a few were recommended to seek immediate attention.

From the readings Rob took, more than ten were shown to have above average levels of cholesterol, more than 15 were shown to have higher blood pressure and more than 15 were shown to have higher blood sugar.

MHERV is a Rotary project of D9670 supported by the Rotary Club of Boorowa. MHERV and a dedicated registered nurse travel an extensive area of NSW for many months of the year seeing over thousands of people.
