Last week, Murruburrah Harden Rotary hosted Harden Murrumburrah Regional Development Corporation (HRDC) CEO Melissa Pinney as the guest speaker at their meeting.

Rotarian Rita O’Connor said Melissa had recently taken up the role and is happy to be home, originally being from Harden.

“She gave a very interesting and detailed outline of her work for the past 17 years with the ACT Government involving small, medium and large multi-national businesses and how her knowledge with grants is already benefiting businesses in Harden.”

There was a discussion about the Rotary takeover of the old tennis court area and tennis shed.

“Mel outlined the importance of this community space and that collaboration would be the key to its success, with involvement of groups such as the Men’s Shed and students in COMPACT from the high school,” said Rita.

“Council is ready to extend Rotary’s lease over the tennis court area. After 14 months of meetings with Council we will get our Book Club and more area than we imagined! Hopefully many volunteers in the community!”
