From the storms, thunder and lush forests of Beethoven to the picturesque and languid imagery conjured by Debussy, Music in the Region’s latest tour Inventi Ensemble will deliver it all to Young on Tuesday, May 9.

The seven-piece ensemble will perform one of the most iconic orchestral works of all time at the Southern Cross Theatre in partnership with Young Regional Conservatorium from 7 pm.

After a successful inaugural year touring five world-class classical music groups across regional NSW in 2022, Music in the Regions is making its first visit to towns in the Riverina and south west with its most ambitious program yet - the Inventi Ensemble’s The Enchanted Forest.

General Manager and Producer, Ian Whitney said Music in the regions had a state-wide mandate. “I’m thrilled to be making our first visit to towns like Junee and Jerilderie with what is our largest ensemble yet,” Mr Whitney said.

“Inventi’s transcriptions of classics like the Beethoven and new commissions make them an exciting addition to our touring program.”

Co-artistic Directors of Inventi Ensemble, Melissa Doecke and Ben Opie said one of their favourite things was exploring and filling every part of Australia with music.

“Our concerts are the perfect opportunity to introduce someone to classical music for the first time,” the duo said.

Anyone who already loves classical music, they’ll hear familiar pieces played in a brand new way with violins, violas, cellos, double bass, oboe and flute.

The Inventi Ensemble established itself in Melbourne and is a leading force in Australian chamber music. Award-winning performances in Australia’s leading concert halls and at festivals around the country have led to an enthusiastic following for their innovative programming and outstanding performance style.

One of Australia’s most prolific chamber ensembles, with over 80 diverse concerts in their 2022 season, Inventi is an exciting voice in Australian music.
