The Rotary Club of Murrumburrah-Harden has been busy to finish off the year.

The first painted stones were laid under the Friendship Tree last week.

The Friendship Tree is a large gum in the Community Garden.

Rotarian Rita O’Connor said, “We chose stones from the quarry for every daycare/preschool and primary school child to paint and place under the tree.”

“I will lacquer them to preserve the colour and hopefully they will remain under the tree for many years.”

The stones are from kinder to Year 5 children at Murrumburrah Primary School with other schools due to drop their stones off to be placed under the tree in the coming weeks.

The Club also held their last meeting for the year, which was their Christmas lunch.

“We held it at Baifern Thai in Murrumburrah and there were 17 people present.”

“It was an enjoyable, social lunch which finished with gingerbread men and Christmas cake,” said Rita.
