COVID-19 Pfizer vaccinations are now available for children.

To bring more attention to this, the Young Vaccination Clinic will be hosting a school holiday Adolescent Vaccination Clinic for those aged 12 to 19 years on September 23rd, with the help of a Childhood Immunisation Nurse and a Midwife. There will be 300 doses of Pfizer for the clinic.

Vaccination Hub Coordinator Trish Grainger said the school holiday clinic is already three-quarters full.

“It’s no secret we offer these vaccinations. Children can feel more comfortable coming to these sessions as they can come with their mates,” Ms Grainger said.

“It’s a day to bring attention to the fact that the clinic offers younger people the vaccination.”

“We want to strike while the iron’s hot. It’s about getting jabs in arms.”

Another clinic will be held for 12 to 19 years once another 1,200 doses in the fortnight after September 23.

“There are no anxieties whatsoever about stock levels.”

Vaccination to the 16 to 40 aged group opened on August 30, and 12-year-olds were able to seek vaccination from Monday 13th September.

“We have done quite a lot of children already, plus those with health risk and NDIS patients, those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait descent and priority people coming for Pfizer and AstraZeneca. The appointment numbers show how most of the population wants to get vaccinated,” Trish said.

The Clinic has been fully booked since offering Pfizer vaccination from 5th July.

They have had a walk-in clinic for AstraZeneca since July 5th. Residents are currently getting their second dose. It can be had at four weeks instead of 12 when you have a chat with your GP.

Boorowa Street Medical Practice Manager, Bonnie Wright wanted to thank the wider community, especially local businesses. She said it’s nice to know your hard work is being appreciated.

Staff have been working 110% answering phones for appointments, Ms Wright encouraged people to use the Young Respiratory Clinic, HotDoc online booking system.

Federally, 42% of people aged over 16 are immunised.
