On Thursday evening the final of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge saw ENVISION (winners from the Wednesday night division) playing FATBBOTS (winners of the Thursday night division).

ENVISION (Brad Boyd, Ian Apps, Russell Boyd) had a good start and after 3 ends led 4-0, but FATBBOTS (Craig Watson, Col McIver, Johno Watson) responded by winning 6 consecutive ends to lead 13–4 and went on to record a comfortable win.

Congratulations to both teams on their performances during the competition. As the winners of their divisions, both teams will nominate a charity of their choice to receive a $250 donation from the Club.

Play on Thursday afternoon saw sixteen players involved and the playing conditions were almost as good as they can be – warm weather, no wind and a good green.

The vouchers for the afternoon went to Michel Alavoine and Cliff Traynor who won their game by 18 shots.

The other winning teams and their margins were Brian March and Tom Preston – 2 shots, Andrew Hutchison and Les Fanning – 12 shots and Brian Christie and Harold Anderson who won their game by 8 shots.

There was a very good attendance at the Club on Thursday night.

The Easter Raffle with nearly 30 prizes – chocolate trays and seafood trays supplied by Young Services Club – was a special drawcard.

In addition, players from the Young Lions, Young Cherrypickers and Young League Tag took the opportunity to play social bowls. These three groups had approximately 60 players involved at some time in the evening and other smaller groups also took advantage of the fine night to practise their skills on the green.

Saturday afternoon saw 24 players on the green in very good conditions. There was one runaway win when Brian March and Tony Ruhl won their game by 34 shots.

All the other games were closer contests with margins ranging from 3 shots to 11 shots.

Albert Carter and Tom Preston won their game by 3 shots, Steve Walsh and Ian Schofield won by 6 shots, Wally Chater and Harold Anderson won by 8 shots, Andrew Hutchison and Mark Anderson won by 10 shots and Steve Barnes and Cliff Traynor won by 11 shots.

Two games of Club Singles are scheduled for Saturday 10th April. Vic Brown is to play Harold Anderson (George Somerville the marker) and Peter Watts is to play Damien Miller (Ian Schofield the marker).

All players interested in playing in the Club Pairs should check the information on the notice board. Entries for this event close on Saturday 24th April. After a break for Easter, the Pennant competition will resume on Sunday 11th April.

Young’s Grade 3 side will travel to Harden to play against Harden Grade 4 and Young’s Grade 4 side will play Cootamundra Country Club’s Grade 4 side at Cootamundra.

The Grade 5 side will be at home against Cootamundra Ex–Services.
