We often make fun of the weather conditions for sport in England and in recent times the World Test Cricket Final was a prime example.

Then we have The Championships at Wimbledon. The first day saw play delayed because of rain.

However, they are not alone.

During the past week there was no play on Thursday due to the consistent rain with the grrens under water and even though there was less rain on Saturday it still prevented play.

The only bowls played for this week was a semi–final of the Club Singles between John Cooper and Damien Miller played on Sunday afternoon.

The game was originally to be played on Thursday 17th June but did not get started because of rain.

With some excellent bowls being played by both John and Damien the scoring was in four distinct parts of the game.

After 9 ends Damien led 9–2 but John then won 14 of the next 16 ends to establish a lead of 22–12.

The next 4 ends saw Damien score 6 shots to trail 18–22 before John won 3 of the next 4 ends to lead 26–19.

Damien then won 7 consecutive ends to win the game 31–26.

During the week the women’s Grade 3 Pennant side contested the Region 10 Finals at Wagga on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday they lost the aggregate against Lake Cargellico by 5 shots and on Wednesday morning they lost by 1 shot against Wagga Rules The Wagga Rules side won both their matches and will progress to the State Finals.

This weekend the club will host the Zone 8 Triples Championships.

There will be six games on Saturday morning, six games on Saturday afternoon and six games on Sunday morning.

The three finals will be played on Sunday afternoon.

Members and visitors are reminded that they must wear a mask when they are inside the clubhouse.
