Unfortunately the extremely cold weather on Saturday disrupted the start of the Club Fours Championship, with play being cancelled around 11 o’clock.

Sunday saw some improvement in conditions and a semi–final of the Club Triples Championship and one game of the Club Fours Championship were played. In the Triples, the team of Damien Miller, George Somerville (substitute) and Dave Quigley played against John Cooper, Col Chapman and Harold Anderson.

Dave’s team dominated the scoring during the first half of the game to lead 15–3 after 13 ends. The scoring was fairly even over the remaining ends with Dave’s team winning the game 26–10.

In the Club Fours, Albert Carter, Les Fanning, Colin Powell and Mark Anderson played Brian March, Mick Manning, Stephen Walsh and Denis Rosen. After 8 ends, the scores were level at 5–all but Mark’s team then won 8 consecutive ends to lead 24–5 and they went on to win 26–9.

Conditions for play on Thursday afternoon varied considerably from fairly warm to very cold. There were twenty four players involved and the vouchers for the afternoon went to Bob Ruhl and Colin Powell with a convincing margin of 14 shots. The other winning teams and their margins were Alan Gall and Denis Rosen (7 shots), Milan Brankovic and Terry Mulligan (7 shots), Colin Chapman and Joe Bargwanna (6 shots), Ian Gailey and Ian Schofield (3 shots) and Albert Carter and John Cooper (2 shots).

There will be normal Jackpot Bowls on Saturday.

Any players who are scheduled to play in Championship games on Saturday will be contacted individually.

On Sunday 4th October, there will be Open Nominated Pairs starting at 1.15 pm. Entries will close at 12.45 pm. The Club will open at 12 noon.

Players are reminded that the Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Bowling Club will be held at the Club at 5.30 pm on Tuesday 6th October.
