On Thursday 25th January play started at 10 am to try and avoid the hot afternoon conditions.

There were 16 players on the green.

Chris Wright and Tony Ruhl were in good form and won their game by 19 shots to claim the vouchers for the day.

The other three games were much closer with Aldo Malvicino and Ian Schofield winning by 6 shots and Brian McNair and Geoff Holt wining by 2 shots.

In the final game, Milan Brankovic and Les Fanning won by 5 shots in a game that saw a single shot being scored on 17 of the 21 ends.

It was cooler on Saturday and 28 players took part – most dressed in the green and gold theme for the day.

Probably the most excited players for the day were in the game where Rod Cummings and Brian Madden 21 defeated Steve Walsh and Geoff Holt 20 by just 1 shot.

Normally this would pass without notice but since 1 was the jackpot number for the day they shared in the $556 jackpot.

Other winning teams for the day were Darryle Miller and Les Fanning (3 shots), Harold Anderson and Ian Schofield (9 shots), Alan Langford, Col Chapman and George Somerville (10 shots), Tony Oyston, Milan Brankovic and Cliff Traynor (11 shots), and the voucher winners Austin Crampton and Glen Benson (12 shots).

The draw for the Club Fours Championship is on the notice board with all eight teams set down to play on Saturday afternoon.

There will be Jackpot Bowls for those players not involved in the championship games.

A reminder that the first games of the 2023-24 Open Gender Pennant season will be played on Sunday 18th February.

The teams are on display at the club and any players who have been selected but are unavailable on that day are asked to advise one of the selectors.

Two other Pennant matters – there is a sheet on the notice board that allows players to indicate if there are particular days on which they know they will be unavailable to play and there have been some changes to the draw. Updates are on the notice board.

For those players who are looking to take part in the next session of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge please check the notice board for details.
