Bowls during the week started on Thursday afternoon, with 20 players taking part in very warm conditions.

The vouchers for the afternoon went to Milan Brankovic and Les Fanning who dominated their game to win by 24 shots. Stewart Taylor and Terry Mulligan also had a good win when their 16 shot margin was exactly what was needed to win the $200 jackpot.

Saturday afternoon also saw 20 players on the greens.

The winning teams for the afternoon and their scores were Steve Walsh and Mark Brownlie (21), John Cooper and George Somerville (12), Darryle Miller and Rod Cummings (4), Greg Woods and Les Fanning (21) and Len Porrett and Ged Hardman (18).

After a countback, the vouchers that are sponsored by Patterson Bros Funerals went to Greg and Les. The strong wind on Sunday afternoon made playing conditions quite trying but the 20 players involved had an enjoyable afternoon. After the completion of two games, there were only two teams to have won both their games. The overall winners were Garry Fish and Margo Parker with two wins and a 14 shot margin and in second place were Sheila Traynor and Ian Schofield with two wins and a margin of 11 shots.

Thanks to the sponsors for the day – Kevin Bryant, Denis Rosen, Joe Bargwanna, Col Parker, Geoff DeBritt, Stuart Freudenstein, Graeme Edgerton and Michael Webb for their generous support. Thanks also to Colin Powell for his work in organising the day.

Players are reminded that entries for the Club Fours close on Saturday 26th October.

Players interested in being selected in the SWDBA side to play in the Bing Wallder Shield should make sure their details are on the sheet on the noticeboard by Sunday 13th October.

The draws for both the Mixed Pairs and Minor Pairs are on the noticeboard. There are also some special details about the Mixed Pairs on both noticeboards.

This week sees the start of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge. This competition is played over eight weeks and is for teams of three players. The teams can elect to play on either Tuesday or Thursday nights. Even if teams have missed the first week, it is still possible to nominate by contacting the Club on 6382 1112.
