During the week our greenkeeper Damien Miller has been playing in the NSW Greenkeepers Championships at Pottsville.
These championships were played at Young last year.
Damien and Wade Turner from Queanbeyan RSL won the Pairs Championship 19–14 against Mick Woods from Tamworth and Adam Webb from Lightning Ridge.
Damien and Wade also won this event in 2022 when it was held at Tamworth.
Local play during the week saw just 10 players taking part on Thursday afternoon with two close games.
Harold Anderson and Brian Gibson won their game 18–15 and Tom Preston, John Balcomb and Cliff Traynor took out their game 19–17.
There were very pleasant conditions on Saturday afternoon for the 18 players taking part.
Harold Anderson and Jono Watson certainly enjoyed the conditions with a 26–6 win in their game.
The other three games were much closer contests with the winning teams and scores being Brian McNair, Tom Preston and Joe Bargwanna 24–17, Joe Read and Tony Ruhl 21–15 and Colin Chapman and Cliff Traynor 19–17.
Players are reminded that entries for the Club Triples Championship close on Saturday 17th May with the first games to be played on Saturday 24th May.
