Conditions for bowls last Thursday afternoon were quite good. A semi-final of the Club Singles was played and there were 20 players for Jackpot Bowls.

In the singles, Ian Schofield was opposed to John Cooper. John had the better of the opening ends to establish a 17–5 lead after 14 ends. Ian then won 5 of the next 7 ends to take the score to 19–12 before John again dominated the scoring to win 31–17.

Only one of the five Jackpot games had a margin of more than 5 shots and this was for the team of Terry Holmes and Russell Boyd, who took out the vouchers with a 12 shot margin.

Steve Walsh and Colin Stokell won their game by 1 shot, Wally Chater and Denis Rosen had a 4 shot margin and both Brian March and Col Chapman and Garry Trudgett and Les Fanning won by 5 shots.

There was no play on Saturday due to the steady rain during the morning. The remaining semi-final of the Club Singles will be played between Geoff Holt and Damien Miller on Friday at 1.00pm.

Players are reminded that entries for the Club Pairs close on Thursday the 16th and all teams that have entered will be required to play on Sunday the 19th. This may involve a game in the morning or the afternoon or both morning and afternoon.

Entries for the District Pairs close on Friday the 17th and for the District Singles on Friday the 24th.

Members are advised that membership renewals were due to be paid by the 1st of July.

Information concerning the Annual General Meeting for the South Western District Bowling Association is on the noticeboard.
