Sixteen players were on the green on Thursday afternoon in quite cool and cloudy conditions.

The vouchers for the afternoon went to George O’Neil and Glen Benson who won their game by 11 shots.

Other winners were Steve Walsh and Ian Schofield with a margin of 7 shots, Michael Webb and Les Fanning with a 5 shot margin and Brian Christie and Cliff Traynor who won their game by 3 shots.

After a promising start to the day the conditions for bowls on Saturday afternoon were on the cool side.

There were twenty-four men and women players involved in a slightly shortened game of pairs.

The reduced time was to allow those players who wanted to be home to watch the Matildas play had time to do so.

The results for the games are shown below.

Ted Loader and Damien Miller were the winners of the vouchers with a margin of 12 shots.

Brian Christie and Jono Watson won their game by 8 shots, Scott Douglas and Margaret Gailey won by 7 shots, Glen Seward and Glen Benson won their game by 5 shots, Lee Veitch and Russell Boyd had a winning margin of 1 shot as did Lisa Boyd and Denis Rosen.

Following play there was a short presentation session for the winners and runners–up of the Club Championships for 2021 and 2022–23.

The draw for the Club Triples will be done on Thursday afternoon and the skips of all teams will be notified.

The first round games will be played on Saturday 19th August.

Those players whose Pennant grading is 5, 6 or 7 or they are not graded, are advised to check the details on the notice board concerning the President’s Cup.

With all the Zone 8 Championships due to be completed before the end of 2023 entries have been opened for several events.

All interested players should check the details, particularly the closing dates, for the Zone Triples, Zone Fours and Zone Singles.
