Playing Ditch Weight

Unfortunately, the rain on Thursday and Saturday prevented any normal play during the week.

There were 12 players who started play on Thursday afternoon.

Play was abandoned after about 6 ends had been completed when a storm with heavy rain and small hail came through.

This weather event also led to Thursday night’s Guy Pickering Charity Challenge games to be cancelled.

While several players put their names in to play on Saturday the steady rain prevented play from starting.

On behalf of the bowling members of the club I extend our condolences to Joe Chambers’ family. Joe passed away early last week.

While he had not been able to play bowls for some time Joe made significant contributions to the club when he was an active member.

He was a very capable bowler and won several club championships including the Club Singles in 2015.

He served on the Board of Directors, had a period as Bowls Secretary and he was President of Young Bowling Club Fishing Club for a number of years.
