The conditions for bowls during the past week have been the most consistent for some time with fine and warm conditions the order of the day.

Twenty–two players were on the greens on Thursday afternoon. Four of the five games played had close results with margins of 1 shot, 2 shots and two margins of 5 shots.

The exception was a 15 shot margin for Brian Christie and Denis Rosen and they were the winners of the vouchers for the afternoon.

There were also twenty-two players on Saturday afternoon enjoying quite warm conditions. The winners of the Patterson Brothers Funerals sponsored vouchers were Len Porrett and Dave Quigley with the very big margin of 26 shots.

Other winning teams were Max Penfold, Colin Powell and Ged Hardman (2 shots), Colin Chapman and Vic Brown (18 shots), Les Fanning and James Maloney (14 shots) and Brian March and Peter Slater (2 shots).

Thanks to those players who attended the President’s Day at Quandialla on Sunday, either as members of the Club’s team or as members of the District team.

The BowlsNSW State Championships start on Friday 20th September at Ettalong with the first games in the State Triples, Senior Triples and President’s Reserve Triples.

Good luck to Damien Miller, Kade McKenzie and Dave Quigley from the Club who will be representing Zone 8 in the Open Triples.

Players are reminded that there are several bowls events coming up and the information is on the noticeboard.

The annual FAGS Grand Final Day bowls afternoon will be held on Sunday 6th October and supporters of those teams that will not be playing in the grand final are encouraged to attend.

Entries for the Minor Pairs Championship and the Mixed Pairs Championship close on Sunday 6th October and all eligible players are encouraged to nominate.

On the evening of Monday 30th September, there will be three important meetings at the Club. First will be the general meeting concerning the possible amalgamation with the Young Services Club, followed by the Annual General Meeting of the Young Bowling Club and then the Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Bowling Club. Bowling members are encouraged to attend the Club for these meetings.
