The conditions for bowls on Thursday afternoon were variable and ranged from quite warm when the clouds broke away to quite cool as they returned.

Twenty players took part with five games of Pairs being played. There was one big margin for the afternoon with Cary Peters and Cliff Traynor winning their game by 25 shots.

All the other games were close contests with Colin Stokell and Joe Bargwanna winning 23–17, Albert Carter and Denis Rosen winning 24–21, Ian Apps and Ian Schofield winning 24–22 and Brian Christie and Tom Preston winning 25–20.

Albert and Denis’s margin of 3 shots gave them the jackpot of $200. There were cooler conditions on Saturday with very little sunshine and some cool breeze for the eighteen players involved.

No doubt the rain on Friday night and Saturday morning deterred some players and the green was noticeably slower than on Thursday.

There were two big margins recorded with Brian Christie, Charlie Biffen and Ian Schofield the winners of the vouchers with the very big margin of 27 shots.

Les Fanning and Denis Rosen also had a big margin with a winning score of 28–8.

Glen Benson and Cliff Traynor won their game 26–20 and Phil Taylor and Joe Bargwanna scored 1 shot on an extra end to defeat Scott Douglas and Martin Betcher 26–25.

Jono Watson, Russell Boyd, Damien Miller and David Quigley played in the State Open Fours Championships at Ettalong on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday afternoon they lost their first sectional game to the Warilla team skipped by Jeremy Henry by 20 shots to 16.

On Saturday they played a 16–all draw against the Mount Lewis team skipped by Nathan Wise.

In their third sectional game they received a forfeit from the team from the Austral club.

Congratulations to the team on a very creditable performance in this high level competition.

This Friday the club will hold an Open 3 Bowl Pairs Tournament. Hopefully the rain will stay away for the day even though the forecast is for cold weather.

There is information on the notice board concerning two rounds of the BPL Cup to be held on Sunday 10th July and Saturday 30th July.

Players are reminded that entries for the Club Pairs Championship close on Saturday 11th June.

The new bistro facilities at the club opened on Friday 27th May and there was quite a good crowd of diners at the club that night.

It is planned that raffles will be held at the club on Friday nights from Friday 3rd June.
