There have been smaller numbers for bowls this week with just 12 players on Thursday and 8 players on Saturday.

There were 24 players involved in the Friday Night Pairs games and 60 on the greens on Thursday night for the Guy Pickering competition.

All games were closely contested on Thursday afternoon with Robyn Apps and Margaret Gailey having the biggest winning margin of 7 shots.

Di Peisley and Joe Bargwanna won their game 22–17 and Aldo Malvicino and Peter Watts had a winning score of 19–16.

Just two games of pairs were played on Saturday afternoon and both had the big winning margin of 17 shots.

Albert Carter and Brian Madden won 30–13 and Brian McNair and Ian Schofield won 29–12.

On Thursday night Noisy’s had the best score with a total of 17 points. Honor Roll continued their good form and scored 16 points.

Three teams – Mud Chuckers, See You Next Week and Pretty in Pink – all had scores of 14 points.

Conditions on Friday night were great for bowls and the 12 teams involved enjoyed the evening.

In Division A Geoff Holt and Peter Watts won 5 of the last 6 ends of their game to win 19–14 and Jake Fisher and Matt Peisley overcame an early deficit to win a low–scoring game 13–11.

In Section 1 of Division B Michael Patterson and Brian Wales trailed for most of the game but ended up winning 14–12 while Ted Loader and Mark Anderson continued their good form with a win 20 shots to 9.

In Section 2 Joe Bargwanna and Cliff Traynor won the final four ends of their game to win 20–13 and Brian McNair and Tony Ruhl had a close win 13–10.

Thanks to those players who were involved in the working bee on Friday morning to top dress Green 2.

The first of the club’s three Cherry Festival tournaments started on Wednesday.

This was the Women’s Triples that is a two–day event and concludes after lunch on Thursday.

The Mixed Pairs tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

A Calcutta for the Men’s Triples will be held at 7 pm on Monday 24th and play in this event is scheduled for Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th and the morning of Thursday 27th.
