Congratulations to Damien Miller, Brian Madden, Tom Shapcott and Dave Quigley on winning the final of the Club Fours Championship on Saturday afternoon. They were up against Ian Schofield, Ged Hardman, Graeme Edgerton and Russell Boyd.

Dave’s team led 10–4 after 8 ends but after the completion of 11 ends the scores were level at 10–all.

After 19 ends Dave’s team were in front 17–14 and the game was in the balance but 4 shots to them on the 20th end gave them a great advantage and they took out the game 21–15.

Twenty other players were involved in Jackpot bowls on Saturday and the vouchers sponsored by Patterson Bros Funerals went to Tony Ruhl and Peter Slater with a margin of 10 shots.

Other winning teams and their margins were Scott Douglas and Les Fanning (7), Bill Standen and Joe Bargwanna (4), Milan Brankovic and John Cooper (2) and David Donges and Cliff Traynor (1).

Twelve players were involved in Sunday morning bowls and the winners for the morning were Alan Cooke and Joe Hennock.

Men’s bowls on Thursday afternoon saw twenty-four players on the green in quite pleasant conditions.

Max Penfold and Harold Anderson were in very good form and took out the vouchers with a winning margin of 16 shots.

The other five games had close results with Michel Alavoine and Colin Stokell winning by 2 shots, Alan Gall and Colin Powell by 2 shots, Max Cooke and Tony Ruhl by 3 shots, Ted Loader and Les Fanning by 4 shots and Bill Standen and Cliff Traynor by 8 shots.

Play continued in the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge and the winners for Tuesday night’s play with 15 points were T’s Rule. This was after a count back as NFI and TGs also scored 15 points.

There was also a count back on Thursday night with Kingsvale coming out the winners when they scored 15 points and DGF scored 15 points.

The club’s Annual Cherry Festival Carnival commenced on Tuesday with play in the Women’s Triples. 38 teams were involved on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Mixed Pairs tournament starts on Friday and will continue on Saturday. The Men’s Triples will start on Tuesday 26th and conclude at lunch time on Thursday 28th. There will be 42 teams taking part in this event.

Men’s Thursday afternoon bowls and play in the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge will continue as normal. Men’s Jackpot bowls will be played on Sunday afternoon.
