Bowls

Once again, the weather conditions have not been favourable for playing bowls. The wet and very cold conditions meant that no bowls have been played at the Club since the final of the District Singles on Sunday 16th.

On Tuesday 18th, August Bowls NSW and Women’s Bowls NSW advised their members that based on recommendations from NSW Health all play in District, Zone and Regional bowls events would be suspended for six weeks.

The first two events to be affected for members were the District Mixed Pairs to be played at Cootamundra on Saturday and a round of the BPL Cup to be held at Young on Sunday. Even without the suspension, the weather would have stopped any play taking place.

The six–week suspension also applies to the Zone 8 Play–Offs for Men’s Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours, Women’s Regional Play–Offs for Pairs, Triples and Fours and Men’s District Champion of Club Champions.

Some of the Australian Championships and State Championships have now been moved to new dates in 2021 and clubs are yet to be advised of new dates for Zone and Regional play–offs.

Both the men’s and women’s clubs will be looking to play some Club Championships during the next few weeks.

Entry details for the Men’s Club Triples and Club Fours are on the noticeboard. Entries for the Triples close on Wednesday 16th September and entries for the Fours close on Saturday 19th September.

The draw for the YWBC Triples is on the noticeboard.

Hopefully the weather conditions will allow normal club play during the next few weeks.

It has been decided that due to the current COVID–19 situation that the Club’s Cherry Festival tournaments – Women’s Triples, Mixed Pairs and Men’s Triples – will not be conducted in 2020.
